BT users to Pay 10% Extra

A Tej Kohli report -

Brace yourself to pay higher phone bills as BT has announced to increase call charges by 10% and monthly line rental by 50p effective from October this year.

This means the cost of connecting a call will increase from 9.9p to 10.9p, and daytime rates will go up from 5.9p to 6.4p. Landline rental charges meanwhile will rise to £13.29 per month, or £12.04 for customers who receive bills by e-mail.

This implies that the charges of connecting a call will rise from 9.9p to 10.9p, and daytime rates will go up from 5.9p to 6.4p. Meanwhile, landline rental charges will increase to £13.29 per month, or £12.04 for those who get their bills through email.

However, the customers who sign up to a 12-month line rental contract will avoid the hike, as part of a program to motivate customers to subscribe for longer-term deals and exclusive packages.

The telecom giant said that the changes would cost customers only 1p a day, since an average customer spends only 80 seconds on daytime calls per day, and above 50 percent customers opt for special packages.
